Just backward thinking

Editor: It is ironic that at a time when there is so much talk about severing links to our colonial past, some people think it is smart to add the not inconsiderable expense of a blazer to a secondary school uniform.{{more}} Wearing jackets is an absurdity in a country where the daytime temperature varies between 88 and 92 degrees.
And while I am on the subject of backward thinking, hasnât anyone considered that in this time of mass communications and the ubiquity of electronic media, the use of loudspeakers in residential areas is a relic of the 1950s and should be banned except for emergencies?
