James Mitchell is not so bad after all

Sir James Mitchell, former Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, sounds very silly. Mitchell, in advocating a backward position on constitutional reform, said: “if better can’t be done, let worse continue”. Let’s examine James Mitchell’s nonsense.

Taking the context into consideration, “worse” can only continue if it currently exists. Unfortunately, worse cannot currently exist because, by definition, it is a description of a future state relative to the present. Mitchell apparently believes that to be worse is to be the same. No wonder he thinks that reverting to an NDP government is acceptable. At the same time, does he suggest that the ULP government is doing so well that “better can’t be done”?

Maybe he’s not so bad after all.
