A call to all Rastafari

Please permit me space to communicate with my Rastafari Brothers, sisters and all other conscious persons out there.

The Rastafari Working Committee is an Umbrella body of Rastafari; it was formed over 10 years ago in 1998. The development and growth of this Organization was inspired from the Historic Rastafari Conference that was held in Barbados in 1998 where there were Rastafari from all over the world.{{more}} A large delegation of Rastafari members from SVG attended this Historic Rastafari Conference. A brief overview of the organization can be found in the following text taken from the Organization’s draft constitution.

ARTICLE I

NAME

The name of the organization shall be “Youremei Council for Advancement of Rastafari”, hereinafter referred to as “Y.C.A.R.”.

ARTICLE II

MISSION STATEMENT

To work with the local, regional and international Rastafari organizations, to centralize and organize, through sustainable trade and development activities/ programs in pursuit of our ultimate goal of repatriation, reparation and restoration.

ARTICLE III

PURPOSE/OBJECTIVES

To achieve a greater co-ordination and unity amongst the Rastafari Community in St.Vincent and The Grenadines and to build a firm unshakeable organization for the development of future generation of Rastafari.

1. To provide and develop economic advancement through trade, arts, sports and culture (sustainable development)

2. To mobilize savings on a national level to help finance development programs.

3. To set up an organized structure to address legally and otherwise the social ills Rastafarians face in the society

4. To instill the principles of self determination and the quest for knowledge in pursuit of the ultimate goal of repatriation.

5. To reinforce the principle of the Rastafari Creed.

6. To create programs, which Rastafari elders and other skilled ones can contribute to youth development.

7. To attempt to resolve conflicts amongst the Rastafari community and to serve as a house of reconciliation.

The Rastafari Working Committee will be hosting a general reasoning on Sunday, 26th of April, 2009, at the Questelles Learning Resource Centre, from 3:00pm – 7:30pm. We are, therefore, inviting all Rastafari Mansions, brothers, sisters and all other conscious persons to make a special effort to attend. Transportation will be provided upon notification of need.
