Develop your mind, body and spirit

Editor: It is well accepted by most that we are body, mind and spirit. We pay most attention to nourishing our body through what we eat, but pay little attention to what we feed our mind, and even less attention to the spirit. Ironically, it is the mind and spirit that require the least to nourish. The body requires food, while the mind only requires positive thoughts and the spirit gets its nourishment from God.{{more}}

There is a thin line that separates the body, mind and spirit, and they are all important to each other. If you look at someone who is mentally deranged you would notice that their facial features do change as their illness becomes more severe. That is because the mind is important in the maintenance of body conformation. Similarly, the spirit attempts to influence the mind, though we pay very little attention to it. We must, therefore, keep positive thoughts so that our mind functions at the highest level. As the Bible rightly says: “So a man thinketh so he becometh.”

The mind itself functions both on the conscious and the subconscious level, with the latter being almost like autopilot. It can maintain control even though you are not aware. Therefore it is absolutely important that the subconscious maintains a very close relationship with your spirit. Have you ever been walking down the street and an image of someone flashes into your mind only to meet that person as you walk further down the street? That is because your spirit, which knows everything, sent that image to your mind. This is one of the main functions of the spirit. It can also protect you by sending warning signals to the mind.

Spiritual development is essential to the progress of any individual. Unfortunately, it all gets lost in religion. We often hear persons saying that you have to accept Jesus Christ as your personal savior if you want to have a close relationship with God. This is absolute nonsense, because it is saying that persons who do not subscribe to Christianity cannot have a close relationship with God. Children must be taught the importance of spiritual development, so even though they end up not going to church they can maintain a good relationship with God.

Remember, intuition is a function of the spirit and you can have spiritual development with or without religion.
