Statements in article about 24-hour pharmacy misleading

EDITOR: At a meeting of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Pharmacy Council which was held on 20th September 2006 it was necessary to review an article in the SEARCHLIGHT newspaper of Friday 15th September 2006 in which certain misleading statements were made.{{more}}

A photograph accompanying the article on page 3A entitled “First Drive Thru pharmacy comes to SVG” carries the caption: “Tricia Simon and Patricia Jones – Pharmacists at the 24-hour Pharmacy”. However a check of the Register of Pharmacists indicates that no such individuals are registered to practice in St Vincent and the Grenadines. (NB: The statement “Irwin Martin would be the main Pharmacist at the pharmacy along with Tricia Simon and Patricia Jones” also qualifies).

While an honest mistake may have been made it is necessary that it be corrected in order to prevent public misinformation. The St Vincent and the Grenadines Pharmacy Council is therefore requesting that the erroneous statement be retracted in a subsequent edition of the newspaper in the interest of public safety. Thank you.
