Time to heal political wounds

Editor: Congratulations to the Unity Labour Party and its flamboyant Leader the Honourable Dr. Ralph Gonsalves on an overwhelming victory in the December 7 general elections.

The performance and achievements of the government’s first term in office were the strength on which the election was fought and this certainly captivated the electorate of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. {{more}}The fiercest critic of the Gonsalves administration must agree or be silent on the bold initiatives taken to tackle many social ills including the ever-spiraling inadequate housing and illiteracy.

A second term in office for the Comrade and his team will indeed be a tremendous challenge in the face of the present global climate. It is imperative that we heal political wounds and strive for the developmental health of our blessed nation.

The role of Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition, ably led by Economist Arnhim Eustace is crucial in our democratic system of governance. It is the vanguard of our people and the watchdog of government as it manages the nation’s affairs, and can only serve for the betterment of the people.
