Death Announcement: David Cornelius John

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of David Cornelius John, formally of North River Road, Kingstown, St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), who passed into eternity on July 8, at his residence in Croydon, England, UK.

Before he migrated 59 years ago, David was employed in Her Majesty’s Service as a civil servant, working as a clerk of the court in Kingstown, and was an outstanding musician, playing the lead tenor saxophone in the Limelight Orchestra, led by Syl McIntosh and others. His involvement in church (Anglican) and community activities which he enjoyed in SVG was continued during his time in the UK. David was a frequent visitor to his homeland during the 59 years he lived abroad, and will be missed by his family and many friends in SVG, USA and UK who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Mrs Jill John; daughters, Mrs Debbie Rankine, Mrs Mandy White, Mrs Rosmond Bertram, Mrs Gloria Findley; and sisters, Mrs Margaret Murray, brother, Mr Leon John; nine grandchildren, six great grandchildren, all residing in the UK; sisters, Mrs Geraldine Darrell and Mrs Ada Cox, residing in the US, Mrs Jenness Thompson and Mrs Sylvia Pollard residing in SVG; nieces and nephews in the UK, Canada, USA, Trinidad and SVG. Mr John was laid to rest in Croydon, UK, on July 24. May his soul rest in peace.
