IN MEMORIAM

In loving memory of Wadie Durrant of Cedars

Born: 12th December 1979

Died: 2nd January 2004

It has been 1 year Wadie, since you left us. It was sudden, the shock was severe.

But time hasn’t helped to lessen the pains, nor the tears we cry.

Your name has been on our lips throughout the passing year.

In good times and in bad times, we keep wishing you were here.

Your love, your smile and your laughter are welcome memories every day.

And we smile when we remember all the funny things you’d say.

You were such a wonderful person, a blessing to young and old.

Our hearts still ache with sadness.

Our tears still flow, what it meant to lose you, others will never know.

It is hard to accept that you are gone.

Your name is always on our lips; we miss those chats and the stories you always told.

We will always remember you.

Rest in peace Wadie.

Tribute to Wadie

Wadie was the 4th child born to parents Emerine Durrant and Benette Olliver. As a young boy growing up he had no problems; he became a blessing to young and old.

After working with his brother Shem, he saved his money so he could do his Christmas Eve day shopping (24th Dec. 2003). Wadie made that journey into Kingstown and was shot in the neck at close range by a beast. When he was hospitalized in a lot of pain, he became like a baby and was unable to move any part of his body; he could only talk. Nine days later, after fighting for his life, Wadie died at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital at the age of 24.

Wadie loved to give jokes and kept everyone around him happy and alive. He was always willing and quick to help, but his life was cut short at an early age. When Wadie left us that Friday evening, he took a small part of us with him.

He left us precious memories; memories he will love to be our guide. He will live on through your family. He will always be by our side. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone. He lives in the hearts of those whom he loved and whose love for him will never die. A road to escape may be easy, but a wrong will forever remain a wrong and before your days are done a back lash dey to come. One day you go feel it. Can a woman’s tender care cease towards the child she bore.
