Amanda is the daughter of Irma Farrell (New York), biological daughter of Linda Frederick (deceased), granddaughter of Valcina Boyea (New York) and Emily Frederick (Barrouallie), and sibling to Sydneisha, Lyndon, and Sylvan, all of whom reside in St. Vincent. Prior to relocating to New York, Amanda was a student at the Barrouallie Anglican School.

Amanda “Carla” Farrell, who graduated from Duke Medical School this year will now be pursuing her medical residency at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center at Harvard Medical School. Amanda received letters of persuasion from other top medical schools such as Columbia University Medical, Duke Medical, UNC Medical etc., but choose Harvard Medical, which was her number one choice.

Prior to entering medical school, Amanda attended Yale University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. After working for a year with Yale University Vice President Kim Goff-Crews, Amanda started medical school at Duke University, one of the top ten medical schools in the country. She received multiple scholarships to support her academic endeavours.

During her second year at Duke Medical School, Amanda was selected as an inaugural recipient of the Grant for Emerging Researcher/Clinician Mentorship (G.E.R.M.) Program award by the Infection Diseases Society of America to conduct zoonotic disease research in Hanoi, Vietnam. She spent seven months living and working in Vietnam prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Although Amanda was studying in Vietnam during her third year, she still participated in several other research opportunities that provided her with exposure to Obstetrics and Gynaecology; from exploring disparities in oocyte donor banks to analysing ovarian cancer patients’ perspectives on maintenance therapy. She is now a published author in multiple academic journals.

After relocating to New- York she was further educated at the Half Hallow Hills elementary and middle school system where she was consistently high achieving. Amanda was later enrolled in two prestigious private schools in Manhattan to further her education. She continued to excel and graduated at the top of her class with an International Baccalaureate diploma.
Amanda is fluent in French and loves to travel; she has visited about 30 countries within Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

The family of Amanda Farrell would like to thank everyone who has contributed to her success. To aunties, uncles, cousins, friends, and mentors. Their support over the years has helped to shape her into the amazing young lady she is today. A special thanks to our dearly beloved Linda who was taken from us too soon. You are eternally in our thoughts.
Amanda, we wish you the very best in your medical
