Community College student wins third beauty pageant
Shanyah Peters seems to have a knack for winning beauty pageants.
The Pauls Avenue resident, who entered the show as ‘Miss Ruff Ice’, took the Miss P’tani 2019 crown last weekend at the LaCroix Boxing Plant.
Winning Miss P’tani means that Peters has three crowns to her credit and now has her eyes set on the Miss St Vincent and the Grenadines pageant.
After being crowned in the wee hours of last Saturday morning, Peters said she was still excited although she expected to win.
“This is a stepping stone to greater things,” commented the student of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (SVGCC).
Miss Ruff Ice, who played it smooth throughout her performance, won the swimwear and interview segments of the competition. She was also awarded the Miss Photogenic and Miss Congeniality banners and rewarded with EC$2000 and a gift basket.
Coming in second was the consistent ‘Miss Vincy Roti’ Britanny Harry. Harry did not win any of the judged categories. She was rewarded with EC$1200 and a gift basket.
In third place was Miss Cato’s Heavy Equipment Ikeya Providence. She also won best evening wear and was rewarded with EC$800 and a gift basket.
The best swimwear segment was won by Miss Island Wide Medical Transportation Services Jennia Walters.
The other contestants were Miss People’s Pharmacy Akeacia Harry and Miss Tus-T Water Natalia Ollivierre.
The Miss P’tani pageant had as its major sponsor the Kingstown Cooperative Credit Union (KCCU).
Guest performances came from the Avenues Dancers, Tamara Jackson, Shaunelle McKenzie, Shernelle “Skarpyon” Williams and Keido Foster.
