Grenadines residents receive much welcomed hurricane preparedness kits
Residents on the Grenadine Island of Bequia are now better equipped for the 2018 hurricane season, having received a hurricane preparedness kit from the Keegan’s Charitable Foundation.
Members of the Foundation participated on a drive on Monday August 27 during which they distributed over 50 hurricane preparedness kits islandwide.
Founder of the Keegan’s Charitable Foundation, McSmith ‘Messenjah’ John, said giving back to the community is a significant aspect of his business. He mentioned that trying to assist his fellow Grenadine residents is also important.
John added that while he has been giving back over the years, the charitable drive is the first of its kind. Deeming the initiative a success, he noted that the residents were very receptive to the donation and expressed much gratitude.
He added that he is confident that his contribution will have a significant impact on residents’ lives, in the event that inclement weather should arise. The kits consist of dry goods, a flashlight, batteries, and other items required for hurricane safety.
The Keegan’s Charitable Foundation has in the past, assisted with paying the ferry fares of students, amputees, and other persons in need.
