Suspected burglar shot at Beachcombers Hotel


A man suspected to trying to burglarize the Beachcombers Hotel was shot on Wednesday by a security guard.

A release from the police said that at approximately 5:45 a.m., Calliaqua police received a report that one of the guest houses at the Beachcombers Hotel was being burglarized.

According to the release, Raphael Robinson, a 40-year-old unemployed man of Prospect, commonly known as “King Kong,”who was the prime suspect, was shot in his upper left leg by the security officer who was on duty at the time.

Robinson is currently a patient at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH).

The police report said, according to information, Robinson was discovered with a bag containing a mask, black clothing and other items.

“He is believed to be responsible for a series of burglaries taking place in the Calliaqua district. Raphael Robinson is a well-known offender who was recently released from Her Majesty’s Prison,” the release from the police said.
