MOH to hold town hall meetings on Mayreau, Union Island

The Ministry of Health Wellness and the Environment will host town hall meetings on the Grenadine islands of Mayreau and Union Island this weekend, to discuss the retrofitting of the Union Island Hospital, and the Mayreau Health Clinic.

The first meeting will be held today, Friday, September 1, from 6 p.m. in Union Island at the Union Island Health Complex, while the Mayreau meeting will be held on Saturday, September 2, from 10 a.m.

The projects which will be discussed relate to the second phase of the Smart Hospital Project that has already begun in the Caribbean. The Georgetown Hospital is the first Smart Hospital in the region.

“The meeting will engage the communities, and discussions will be held on the proposed design and works to be done on the facilities. Residents will have the opportunity to input in the process by offering suggestions to the retrofitting works.

“The meeting will also hear discussions from the National Focal Point for Smart Hospitals, and Health Planner David Latchman, representatives from PAHO, and The Ministry of Health, Consultant Architect on the Project Ronnie Lettsome, as well as Country Supervisor, Alex Williams,” a release from the Ministry of Health said.

Residents of Mayreau and Union Island are invited to represent, support and make their contribution to the development of their communities.
