Allen to be laid to rest tomorrow
Social activist Oscar Allen will be laid to rest tomorrow after a celebration of his life and times, tonight.
A release from Allenâs family said this evening, August 11, a cultural wake will take place at the Earlene Horne Square at Diamond Village.
The cultural wake will be preceded by a candlelight march from Diamond Gap, Sans Souci. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the Diamond Gap at 7 p.m., after which the march will proceed to the Earlene Horne Square.
The celebration will continue on Saturday, August 12, with a Service of Thanksgiving at the Kingstown Methodist Church. Singspiration and Tributes will take place from 12 noon, to be followed by the service at 1 p.m.
Family and friends will proceed to Diamond, where a final community viewing of the body will take place at the Earlene Horne Square, between 4 p.m. and 4:45 p.m.
Allen will be laid to rest at the New Adelphi Cemetery at Diamond Village.
He died on Friday, July 28 at the MIlton Cato Memorial Hospital, where he underwent surgery on July 21.
