Leader of the Opposition extends condolences to the Prime Minister

Leader of the Opposition New Democratic Party Dr Godwin Friday has expressed condolences to Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves over the passing of his mother.

Gonsalves’ mother, Theresa Francis, died Tuesday night, around 9 p.m. at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital at the age of 98.

“It is always a difficult thing to experience as a family member and I want to extend my sincerest condolences to the Prime Minister, his family and all the family and relatives in their time of loss,” Friday said at a press conference on Wednesday at Democrat House.

The Opposition Leader also expressed concern for the health of the Prime Minister’s communications consultant Elson Crick, who is hospitalized.

“I just want to express my concern on behalf of myself and all the members of the New Democratic Party and wish him a full and speedy recovery. It is always difficult to deal with loss and with illness and it affects us all, so as one people, one nation, we must share in each other’s grief and in each other’s suffering,” he stated.
