SVG Wesleyan Holiness Churches elects new superintendent


The St Vincent and the Grenadines district of the Wesleyan Holiness Church concluded their 14th annual district conference, convention and installation of district officers on January 29, 2017.

It began with a week of training by the Dynamic Church Planting International. This ran from Friday, January 20, to Thursday, January 26 and was facilitated by Rev Dan Berry and Woodie Cooke from the USA, Rev Whitfield Lawrence of the Trinidad and Tobago district and Rev Cenus Hinds of the SVG district. 35 persons completed the training and received certification.

The conference was held on Saturday, January 28 and officiated by Rev Dr Joel Cumberbatch, general superintendent of the Caribbean Conference of The Wesleyan Church. At this conference, Rev Cenus Hinds was elected as the new district duperintendent and Rev Shakika Fraser as the assistant district superintendent. Other members of the District Board of Administration elected were Pastor Neva Cordice as secretary, Minister Nicolas Robinson as treasurer, Rev Wilmouth Harper, Rev Edgar Toussaint, Rev Joseph Hazlewood, Mr Winston Edwards and Deaconess Carmalie Nichols as members at large. These officers were installed on Sunday at a combined service at Glad Tidings, Camp Site.

The outgoing superintendent, Rev Cordelia Gibson, served for 10 years and was conferred the title of District Superintendent Emeritus at the conference. The Wesleyan Holiness Churches currently have nine congregations in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
