One of the worst things that could happen to a mother happened to Diane Carr-McKenzie of Chapmans.

On Tuesday night at around 10, Carr-McKenize, a shopkeeper, was startled by screams coming from her grandchildren and when she came out of her house, she was accosted by a brutal sight, her 33-year-old daughter Vidana McKenzie-Williams lying dead in a pool of blood.{{more}}

“Right now I’m not sure I have feelings…to see me daughter lying down on the ground dey in a pool of blood like you kill a pig; it wasn’t pretty, it not a pretty sight. And the problem, in front her children,” said Carr-McKenzie on Wednesday, while standing in her shop.

According to the grieving mother, on Tuesday night, she was just about to lie down in her bed when she heard ear-shattering screams from her grandchildren and decided to investigate.

“They ran in the house yelling, but I could not understand what they were saying; then I hear one say Sargie came and stand up behind them…and gave her one chop,” recalled Carr-McKenzie, who noted that she has no idea why her daughter was struck down like she was.

“That man always coming around cursing,” said Carr-McKenzie, who revealed that she has known the man who is alleged to have killed her daughter since he was a boy.

She said that he was deported from Canada about three years ago and he was always talking about going back to Canada and carrying around his passport.

“He never went to the mental home, so I wouldn’t say he is a crazy man. Crazy people have to go to the mental asylum,” said the confused lady, adding, “my daughter is a friendly human being and she did not deserve to die the way she did because she didn’t have any conversation with him, she don’t interfere with him,” noted Carr-McKenzie, whose family has been traumatized by the incident.

She said that her daughter had four children, a 15-year-old daughter and a 12-year-old son, who live with her (Carr-McKenzie) and a seven-year-old daughter and one-year, 11-month-old son who live in Yambou in her daughter’s matrimonial home. The deceased was married to Norbert Williams.

Dennis “Sargie” James has been detained by police in relation to this incident.

This is the 36th murder this year.(LC)
