Altcos Wellness Enterprises seeking accreditation – Gould

The Altcos Wellness Enterprises and its programmes should be accredited by the local accreditation board in the not too distant future.

So said managing director Sylvia Gould, while speaking at the establishment’s first Early Childhood Development course graduation ceremony last Saturday.{{more}}

Gould said that Altcos Wellness Enterprises was in the process of registering as a full training institute, which would see the programmes offered and certificates presented to participants being recognized in St Vincent and the Grenadines and the region, as well as on the international market.

The retired registered nurse, who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing Education from The University of the West Indies, Jamaica, and a Masters of Arts degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, Great Britain, among other certification, told those in attendance at the graduation, which took place at the Faith Temple Church in New Montrose, that it was her dream for Altcos Wellness Enterprises to become a Centre of Excellence in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Saturday’s graduation was the first for Altcos in Early Childhood Development; an Elderly Care training programme was successfully conducted last year, with a new programme scheduled to begin on February 2 this year.

The early childhood development participants underwent 12 weeks of intense training, as well as attachments at the Elizabeth Browne Child Development Centre, Rainbow Unique Pre-school and Day Nursery and Faith Temple pre-schools, from September to December 2015.

All eight persons who started the programme successfully completed and graduated. These are Kimel Joyette, Lucille Grant-Simmons, Kenlyn DuPont, Jasmine Pierre, Akeela May, Cassian Nero, Tassian Mcfee and Lucina Lucas-Drayton.

Grant-Simmons, who was named valedictorian of the group, declared that the ceremony was a proud moment for her and the other graduates. She thanked Gould for initiating the programme, which gave them an opportunity to embrace a new skill, and in some cases upgrade what they had already learned.

The valedictorian also thanked family and friends for their support throughout the course, which she considered to be a life journey. The featured speaker at the ceremony was Carlita Dennie, a well-known and loved pre-school administrator, who congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to give their best at what they do.

She reminded the women that they are not mere babysitters, but would be involved in one of the greatest professions in the world, and that they should set out to make themselves, Altcos Wellness Enterprises and parents proud of the work that they would do with the children in their care.

Dennie also commended Altcos Wellness Enterprises for the initiative, stating that she looked forward to more training exercises and successful graduation ceremonies from the institution, and the emergence of a better standard of early child care teachers because of its programmes.

Altcos Wellness Enterprises, located at Arnos Vale, was established in 2007 and provides services such as body detox and massages, ozone treatments, home health care and housekeeping services, as well as consultancy and staff training seminars, along with coconut oils and moringa products.
