Eustace says he will release more names of persons who are illegally registered to vote

Leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP) Arnhim Eustace says he will release more names of persons who, he claims, are illegally registered in East Kingstown and has warned yet again, that he will deal with such persons.{{more}}

Speaking at a public meeting of the NDP at Redemption Sharpes last week, Eustace said of all the illegal registration, the biggest threat seems to come in the constituencies of East St George and East Kingstown.

“And there is some threat in this constituency also (Central Kingstown). I urge all of our supporters who live in specific areas in various constituencies to keep your eyes open. You know the people who normally live in your community and you must keep your eyes open.

“…One of the problems that we face today is that we are going into elections and the ULP seems to think that the only way that they could win is to violate the law to thief votes through registration processes that are illegal – to transfer persons who should not be transferred in East Kingstown, East St George and other areas, in an effort to cheat and to thief,” Eustace said.

He further stated that he has already submitted some of the names [to the supervisor of elections], but has not received a reply from her.

However, Eustace said when a subsequent voters’ list was released, he noticed that some of the names he had complained of had been taken off the list, but added that there are now more.

Eustace said it is their duty to stop such situations from developing any further.

“Registration is now over and we have to monitor very closely what is happening on the ground during this election period here in St Vincent and the Grenadines,” he said.(KW)
