Yesterday, by telephone, Bonadie, who advises the Government on trade union matters, said that all the unions have agreed to meet with the Prime Minister to continue whatever negotiations have not been concluded. He added that salaries and wages are among the issues up for discussion.

Bonadie, who is also head of the Workers’ Institute of St Vincent and the Grenadines, also revealed that all public sector unions have agreed to attend the meeting.

Among the unions that will be represented are the Public Service Union (PSU), the Commercial Technical and Allied Workers Union (CTAWU), the National Workers Movement (NWM), the Police Welfare Association and the St Vincent and the Grenadines Teachers Union (SVGTU).

The meeting of the unions with the Prime Minister comes on the heels of a strike last Tuesday by 20 per cent of nation’s teachers over non-payment of a one-off tax free one-month salary, in lieu of salary increases between 2012 and 2015. (LC)
