VINLEC contractor dies while trimming trees

A man who was engaged tree-trimming activities on behalf of the St Vincent Electricity Services Limited (VINLEC) died on Wednesday, following an incident at Cane Hall.

VINLEC, in a release issued Wednesday, said Julius Nanton, a resident of Calder,{{more}} at the time of the incident was employed with a tree-trimming contractor, who conducts work on behalf of VINLEC.

“VINLEC’s Senior Advisory Safety Committee convened a meeting on Wednesday afternoon and initiated an internal inquiry into the matter. The company will work closely with the relevant authorities involved in the investigations of this incident,” the release said.

“The Management and Staff of VINLEC extend sincerest condolences to the family of Mr Nanton during this time of bereavement.”
