Toastmasters Clubs in St Vincent and the Grenadines host Territory Contest


Toastmasters Clubs of St Vincent and the Grenadines met for their annual Territory Contest on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the Paradise Beach Hotel’s Conference Room.

The clubs, which fall under the umbrella of the Toastmasters International, competed in the Evaluation Speech and Humorous Speech categories.{{more}} With an exceptionally high standard in public speaking, toastmaster Jerand Phills of the Imperial Champions won the Evaluation Speech Contest, while toastmaster St Clair Stapleton of the Creative Thinkers Toastmasters Club was deemed the First Place Winner of the Humorous Speech Contest. Both winners are expected to represent St Vincent and the Grenadines at the regional District 81 Humorous Speech & Evaluation Speech Contest to be held in St Croix from October 16 to 18, 2015.

Other contestants included: toastmasters Arlette Miller (Creative Thinkers Toastmasters Club) and Lucetta Mapp (Unicomer Eagles Toastmasters Club) for the Evaluation Speech Contest and Gary Bynoe and Shurnette Samuel, both of the Unicomer Eagles Toastmasters Club, competed in the Humorous Speech Contest.

Toastmasters International is a non-profit organization that focuses on helping its members to improve their communication and leadership skills. There are currently eight (8) Toastmasters Clubs across St Vincent and the Grenadines, which are overseen by area directors Glenda Matthews, ACG, ALB (Area 19) and Reynold Baptiste, ACB, ALB (Area 20).
