Police remain mum on reason for withdrawal of charges against ‘Bing’ Joseph

Police remain tight-lipped as to the reasons why four traffic charges brought against radio talk show host Dwight “Bing” Joseph were withdrawn last week.

During a sitting of the traffic court last Wednesday at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court, the prosecution indicated that they would be withdrawing the charges against Joseph, also known as “The Fly Guy.”{{more}}

Joseph was charged with driving an unlicensed vehicle, driving an uninsured vehicle, driving without a permit and driving without a seatbelt.

Charges of driving without a permit are usually brought against persons who have never been in possession of a driver’s licence.

According to a usually reliable source, Joseph was charged during ‘Operation Traffic Storm’, an exercise being carried out by the Traffic Department of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force.

SEARCHLIGHT contacted head of the traffic department Kenneth John and asked whether Joseph had ever been issued with a driver’s licence. However, John declined to comment on the matter and directed us to the Commissioner of Police.

When contacted yesterday and asked for a comment, Commissioner Michael Charles told us, “I am not making any comment on that.”

Efforts to reach Joseph yesterday evening for comment were futile.(KW)
