Taiwan’s Ambassador visits UWI Open Campus

Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to St Vincent and the Grenadines, His Excellency Baushaun Ger, visited the UWI Open Campus, St Vincent and the Grenadines Country Site on Tuesday, January 27. First Secretary of the Embassy Philip Shih accompanied Ambassador Ger.{{more}}

After a short conversation with head of site Deborah Dalrymple, the Ambassador toured the site and met the staff of the Open Campus. He exchanged pleasantries with the staff and engaged them in conversation on matters of the Open Campus. His Excellency was particularly fascinated with the increasing number of students interested in and pursuing on-line education. He commended the Open Campus for its continued work in providing access to higher education opportunities to Vincentians and expressed delight that the students can access library services on-line.

Before the ambassador and first secretary wrapped up their visit, Dalrymple presented them with a gift each in the form of a book entitled, “Breaking Down the Walls: An Evolution of the Extra-Mural Department, The University of the West Indies.”

Later this month, the Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) will host an Information Sharing Session on the 2015 Taiwan Scholarships, at the Open Campus Lecture Hall on Thursday, February 26 at 4:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend thissession.
