SJCM Elite Business Club holds prayer service

On Wednesday, January 14, members of the St Joseph’s Convent Marriqua (SJCM) Elite Business Club, along with other students of the school, crowded into the school’s library to hold a prayer service for those who died in and were affected by the tragic accident on Monday, January 12 at Owia.{{more}}

The atmosphere was filled with emotion, as students, led by the club’s CEO sang “Bind us together Lord,” which was followed by a scripture reading from the book of Wisdom, about the souls of the virtuous being in the hands of God.

Prayers were said for the families, friends and schools affected.

Prayers were also offered the healing and comfort of those still recovering in the hospital and in thanksgiving for the gift of life and loved ones. Persons fought back tears during the reading of a poem entitled “Miss me, but let me go” and the song “You Raise Me Up.” After this club members formed a chain and sang as they processed through the school yard with three lit candles to the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, where the candles were placed to remain burning for three days.

A minute of silence was observed for those who perished during the accident and before persons dispersed, they sang “Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart.” The club’s CEO encouraged all present to make the most of the time they had with their families and friends, as well as to make a request for daily prayer at the Grotto for all those directly affected and for the nation.

The club expressed deepest sympathies to the parents, families and friends of those who have died and assured those affected of their prayerful support.
