NTRC to hold prize-giving ceremony for i2 Competition next week


The Grand Finale and prize-giving ceremony for the second annual Idea and Innovation Competition will take place next week.

The ceremony will include presentations from a number of secondary finalists, including the St Vincent Girls’ High School,{{more}} the St Vincent Grammar School, the Georgetown Secondary School, the George Stephens Senior Secondary School, St Martin’s Secondary and the Union Island Secondary School, each with a number of group entries in both categories of the competition, also known as the i2 Competition.

In addition to this, several group entries from the tertiary level finalists, including the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College Division of Arts, Sciences and General Studies (DASGS) and the Division of Nursing Education (DNE), will be presented.

Each group will compete for the three coveted prizes respective of the category and institutional level, ranging from EC$1,000 to EC$3,500

This event is scheduled to take place at the NIS main conference room on the third floor of the NIS Building located at Upper Bay Street, Kingstown, on Thursday, January 15, from 9 a.m.

Through this initiative, the NTRC hopes to tap into the students’ creativity by challenging them to develop and present projects in the form of Ideas and Mobile Applications that can implement new or improve existing systems in the current departments within the Public Service of St Vincent and the Grenadines and other state agencies that provide services to the public. Such improvements can lead to cost savings or result in the faster delivery of such services.

The NTRC’s partners in this venture are the Ministry of Education, the National Insurance Services (NIS), the Centre for Enterprise Development (CED), SEARCHLIGHT, Toastmasters, Hot 97.1 and the St Vincent and the Grenadines Broadcasting Corporation (SVGBC).
