Nurse brings Christmas Joy to homeless

Sister Elizabeth Medford has been bringing Christmas joy to the homeless by feeding them at midnight every Christmas Eve for the past eight years.{{more}}

This year, the interaction consisted of singing Christmas carols and spending time talking and getting to know the persons better.

This year, however, there was a significant reduction in the number of homeless persons on the streets of Kingstown, moreso, was the drastic reduction in the number of mentally ill persons. This may be due in part to the relocation of the Mental Health Centre to Orange Hill.

The stories shared were very sad and unfortunate, but despite it all, each person was left with a smile on his or her face. Twenty-one persons were served this year, in comparison to 47 last year, 27 of whom were in the Paul’s Lot area.
