The interactive workshop was scheduled to usher in the activities for Financial Information Month 2014 (FIM), which will be celebrated in October under the theme: “Soar to Succeed”. The theme highlights the message that one has to rise above the ordinary to achieve success by going beyond ordinary commitment, vision, skills, efforts and actions.

The workshop, which particularly targeted teachers of business, economics, accounts and related subjects, was expected to build capacity among secondary school teachers, whereby they could help sharpen the skills of their students in the areas of entrepreneurship and value creation opportunities.

Sybil Welsh, adviser, Corporate Relations Department, ECCB, facilitated the workshop which covered key areas such as: value based pricing and purchasing; business competitiveness checklist; competitive advantage; and development of a competitive business idea.

The content of the workshop was delivered via a game show, presentations, a business idea development exercise and interactive discussions.

The majority of the workshop participants described the session as useful, informative, engaging and exciting. The workshop was held at the ECCB Headquarters, St Kitts and Nevis and transmitted via videoconference to the other seven ECCB member countries and to the UWI Centre in Nevis.
