The event was ably led by Glenda Matthews, the Toastmaster of the Day. After a short ice-breaker done by Nickisha Cozier, Francesca Burnham-Onu kicked off the event with an interactive educational presentation on the topic “Creating A Quality Club.” Burnham-Onu noted that teamwork is paramount if we are to be successful. “Toastmasters have all become better communicators, better public speakers, and better leaders.”

Area governor Inga Jackson advised the club officers-in-training to implement all that they learnt during the session, throughout the year. She gave the officers present some invaluable tips during her presentation on “Leading The Club To Success.” She mentioned the importance of setting ‘SMART Goals’ which are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely.

The mission of the Toastmasters Club is to provide a supportive and positive learning experience, in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in self-confidence and personal growth.
