SVG Diaspora 4R’s Organization for Youths Inc has successfully completed a four-day camp in Keartons, Barrouallie, at Kingdom Life Ministries.

The camp, which ran from August 4 to 10, involved approximately 50 adults and young people.{{more}}

The aim of the camp was to bring together members of the various chapters of the organization in St Vincent and the Grenadines to share in training and camaraderie. Currently, there are three chapters here: one each in Chateaubelair, Troumaca and Sandy Bay. The camp also marked the launch of a chapter in Barrouallie.

The four days of the camp were packed with activities. On Thursday, August 7, there were lectures, discussions and exercises on subject areas including self-development, health, leadership and field craft. On Friday, August 8, the campers journeyed to Sandy Bay via a bus tour to visit members of the Sandy Bay chapter that were unable to attend the camp.

Saturday, August 9 was a very hectic day for participants. They hiked from Keartons to the Barrouallie bay on a treking and treasure hunt expedition. The campers, on completion of their expedition, immediately embarked on a beach clean-up which cleared the Barrouallie bay of an estimated 200 lbs of garbage. Later that same day, at 8 p.m., the organization hosted a community youth talent show at the Barrouallie Park.

Campers and other youths from the community performed to an appreciative modest crowd. The community talent show also marked the launch of the Barrouallie chapter of the organization. The curtains came down on the camp on Sunday, August 10, after the campers attended a church service at the Kingdom Life Ministries church at Keartons.

The organization, in keeping with its mission, issued each participant and some members of the Barrouallie community with bags of school supplies, including scientific calculators, geometry sets, rulers, erasers, pens, pencils, crayons, and sharpeners.

The directors of SVG 4R’s Organization for Youths Inc expressed gratitude to Beresford Phillips and Phillips Bakery of Barrouallie for partnering with them to make the community talent show a success.
