The programme, committed to making a difference in the lives of young people and communities where the bank operates, contributed to the publication of Storm’s third book “My Caribbean Connection,” which was launched last week Wednesday at the Paradise Beach Hotel in Villa.

The book chronicles Storm’s visits to 21 Caribbean countries, as he documented similarities and differences in each country, and highlighted what makes the countries unique and their connections with one another and himself.

The young author, speaking at the book launch, said that he discovered first-hand that the Caribbean region is a beautiful, dynamic and fragile place, and that all effort must be made to protect and preserve it.

“I have discovered that no step is too small and we all can make a difference. I have made it one of my missions to tell persons this. I have ensured that I have incorporated this message into not just all my books and my school addresses, but also in my life, as I strive to be a good role model to young persons,” the 16-year-old told well-wishers gathered at the launch.

A lover of art, photography and of course, traveling, storm also acknowledged he also learned a few tips, from being a customer of Scotia Bank, since his parents opened his first account when he was much, much younger.

“I have learned essential skills. I have learned the importance of saving, while understanding how to put my money in areas to make it work for me. I am extremely grateful to the Bank of Nova Scotia for their kind support on this book. I believe it promotes youth empowerment, cultural and environmental responsibility, while learning about our region in a fun way.”

Fitzaudy Wright, the new country manager at Scotiabank, lauded Storm for his latest achievement, as he pledged to assist the young writer, or any other who endeavoured to make use of their creative skills.

“I am extremely happy to be a part of such a worthwhile venture, and I wish Storm a bright and successful future,” Wright said.

“The sponsorship of the publishing of this book is all in line with Scotiabank’s Bright Future Programme and Scotiabank looks forward to many more books from Storm and others.(JJ)
