LIME town hall meetings continue to bear fruit

Two more educational institutions are benefitting from town hall meetings hosted by telecommunications provider LIME last year.

On Tuesday this week, LIME handed over 12 computers and one printer to the Barrouallie and Campden Park Technical Institutes, during a brief ceremony held at the LIME conference room in Kingstown.{{more}}

LIME senior Marketing and Corporate Communications executive Nikala Williams pointed out that seven of the all-in-one 20 inch computers and a printer were being handed over to the Barrouallie Technical Institute, while the remaining five computers were for the technical institute in Campden Park.

“LIME is also going to be setting up these computers; so we are not just handing them over and you go and figure out what to do with them. Our technicians are going to come and put it all together to make sure everything is cohesive.

“We are hoping that this definitely takes education in IT to a different level in Barrouallie and that the Education Revolution will be enhanced in Campden Park,” Williams said.

Sharon Joseph, acting principal of the Campden Park Technical Institute, said that her school was grateful for the equipment, which she said would tremendously assist in training the students in data operations.

“We are an institute preparing students for the world of work and we do hope that these computers will help us to do such; and on behalf of the staff and students of the Campden Park Technical Institute I want to say thanks to LIME and I look forward to continued cooperation between the institute and LIME and wish them great success.”

Speaking for the Barrouallie Technical Institute, instructor Roslyn Hazelwood pointed out that she was pleased that LIME honoured its commitment.

“I would like to thank the manager, Leslie Jack, and his staff for the generous donation to us.

“We would not only use the computers to help our students, but to also integrate ICT in our classrooms, and we also look forward to forging a great relationship with LIME and we wish them success from here on.”

Williams hinted that the town hall meetings are slated to resume in the near future, noting that these meetings were beneficial to the progress that the company has made in recent months.

She said: “If it weren’t for the town hall meetings, LIME would not have been able to identify needs and fill them.

“The town hall meetings were a one of a kind initiative, and all of the feedback was necessary for us to be where we are today.

“We have launched 4G, and we have improved, and continue to improve our network, and this is based on ‘the good, the bad and the ugly’ feedback we got from the communities. We accepted it and we worked on it.

“We are looking forward to having some more town hall meetings so we can touch more communities and forge relationships and, of course, we are thankful for the communities who support LIME,” Williams said.

Other communities have already benefitted from commitments given by LIME at previous town hall meetings.
