While giving an update on the progress of the international airport on Monday, Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves revealed that on May 15, he had a meeting with the vice president of Delta Airlines to discuss the possibility of having routes to St Vincent.

“We had a very good discussion,” Gonsalves declared.

“The discussion which I held with Delta included LIAT also because LIAT is important for the inter-connections – when an airline is coming, to make the connections from here with LIAT. So some people can come here on Delta and leave here to go to Grenada, but you need to have LIAT leaving at a particular time.”

The prime minister also highlighted that the vice president spoke with Glen Beache, the chief executive officer of the SVG Tourism Authority, which is responsible for the airline negotiations of the international airport.

Gonsalves added that negotiations with other airlines are ongoing.
