It will be the fifth visit of the CCH medical team to SVG since 2010. The team, led by Dr Nina Kao, CEO of the CCH’s Overseas Medical Mission Center, comprises four medical doctors and two nurses with the specialties of Chest Internal Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Chinese Medicine, Otorhinolaryngology, etc.

During the visit, the CCH medical team will work hand in hand with colleagues of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH) in providing medical service to Vincentians. In addition, the team will call upon Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves on May 20 and Governor General Sir Frederick Ballantyne on May 23. They will also give a presentation on “Get the Point: Acupuncture in Health care” on May 20 at Grenadine House.

With further support from the ROC (Taiwan) Government, the CCH is to send two medical teams to SVG in 2014. The second team is tentatively due to visit SVG from November 15 to December 7.

The CCH and MCMH were twinned in August, 2010, which has turned a new page for medical cooperation between Taiwan and SVG. Apart from sending medical teams, the CCH also offers training programs for doctors, biomedical engineers, and laboratory technicians from the MCMH.
