CDC should make more use of Queen – Miss SVG

Reigning Miss SVG Shara George has described her reign as queen as “relatively quiet.”{{more}}

In an interview with SEARCHLIGHT on Saturday, May 10, at the “meet the media” session for the 2014 contestants, George said aside from taking part in the Miss Carival show and Miss Jaycees pageant in Antigua and Barbuda last year, her reign has been quiet.

“I haven’t been doing much. I have done a few appearances for various social groups. I have also attended some other functions, but outside of that, it was business as usual,” George said.

While stating that no promises were made that she would have been doing a lot after the Miss SVG show, George is of the view that more events could be scheduled on the carnival calendar for future queens.

“I mean, you have a year to play with as Miss SVG, so they [Carnival Development Corporation] should make use of that,” she said.

George, who will make her final appearance as Queen at the Miss SVG 2014 pageant on May 31, at the Victoria Park, has been accepted by the Oxford International College of Beauty in England, where she will pursue studies in Beauty Therapy.

George stated that she has always had a love for anything that is beauty related and this is just a step forward in pursing her dream.

“The end result, hopefully, will be to become a beauty and image consultant and this is just my first move,” George said.

Meanwhile, George said she has been impressed with the crop of contestants for this year’s pageant.

“I am very well pleased with all of the girls. They are intelligent and beautiful. They are also well-groomed and confident. I think any one of them will be a great successor to the crown..,” she said.(KW)
