Scotiabank returns to Carnival


The Bank of Nova Scotia has hailed its return to the Carnival scene a success.{{more}}

This year, the bank sponsored the day launch of Vincy Mas, which took place at Heritage Square last Saturday.

The launch featured performances by junior artistes, including pan renditions by the reigning Junior Panorama champions, the C.W. Prescod Primary School, as well as renditions from young calypso and soca singers, including defending primary school champion Kristiana Christopher, also known as Singing Kristy.

The Lowmans Leeward Primary School dance group performed at the launch, which also featured traditional games and other events.

All performers were presented with gift packs from Scotiabank staff, who were on hand to mix and mingle with the children, their parents, and other supporters of the launch.

Scotiabank representative Janine DeFreitas reiterated that the bank was indeed excited and grateful to the Carnival Development Corporation for the opportunity to be a part of Vincy Mas 2014.

DeFreitas said that Scotiabank will also be bring the spirit of Carnival to their Halifax Street, Kingstown branch, by decorating the location with carnival costumes and colours during the carnival season.

The bank will also be handing over the first place trophy to the winner of a junior pan clash, scheduled to take place on May 25 at Heritage Square.(JJ)
