Zaria Cummings, Krystal Jacobs and Klarison De Freitas were all winners in the Green Hill Sports and Cultural Club Inc (GHSCC) Spelling B finals, held on Monday, May 5 at the Green Hill Evangelical Church.{{more}}

Seven-year-old Zaria Cummings of Green Hill defeated her other three competitors in the 6-9 age group, to capture the GHSCC Inc trophy, along with a cash prize. Dearla Browne was second and Jalicia Straker third.

In the 10 -13 age group, Krystal Jacobs of Green Hill emerged winner, to capture the Ella Nichols Baptiste trophy, along with a cash prize. Lenisha Jacobs had to settle for second place after a tie-breaker, while there was a tie between Loushana Peters and Jardel Williams for third.

Of the four competitors in the 14-16 division, 14-year-old Klarison De Freitas and 15-year-old Janeika Straker had to battle it out with tie-breakers to arrive at the winner. Klarison eventually did it and won the GHSCC Inc trophy, along with a cash prize. Third place went to Nicole Sterling.

The competition was reintroduced by the organization after an 11-year absence. It is normally held to mark the anniversary of the organization, which is this year celebrating 33 years as a nongovernmental organization.
