The cheque was presented by Grace Martin, who indicated that the institution was delighted to be affiliated with the Carnival day launch, which takes place at Heritage Square on Saturday morning.

Martin said the activities that will take place at the Square coincide with the bank’s focus on youth development. The day launch will feature a junior pan clash, junior mas bands and youth steel orchestras in performance.

Wood, on accepting the cheque, said that the CDC was pleased to have Scotiabank on board with this year’s Carnival activities.

“The fact that you are partnering with us for the first event on the calendar is a clear indication that you have been following the progress of the festival and are satisfied with its growth.

“I would like to say a hearty thank you for partnering with us and we hope that this would be the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship,” Wood added.
