GSS donates items to flood affected victims

The Georgetown Government School has kept a promise made by its principal earlier this year.{{more}}

Last year, the school postponed its annual Boxing Day Fair because of the effects of the ravaging floods on Christmas Eve, which left many families in the Georgetown area with serious damage and loss of property.

The fair took place on New Year’s Day and was well supported by the community and other patrons. The principal Paula Blake-Toney and members of the PTA vowed to give back to persons who suffered loss. On Monday, March 24, 2014, Joan Richards received a donation of household items from the school.

Assistant secretary of the PTA Ava Patrick presented the items at a general assembly of the school body.

Richards expressed heartfelt gratitude to the principal, staff and the PTA for their generous contribution. The president of the PTA, Mr Jackson, stated at the last General Meeting that a social fund will be established to help persons in need.
