The Milton Cato Memorial Hospital will soon have a new CT Scan machine to replace the one destroyed by flood waters last December.{{more}}

Health Minister Clayton Burgin announced in Parliament last Thursday that the National Insurance Scheme and the Bank of St Vincent and the Grenadines are jointly contributing to the cost of the new machine, which is currently on order and should be in the country by next month.

Last Christmas Eve’s trough system dumped several feet of flood waters on the ground floor of the hospital where the CT Scan was set up, putting the expensive piece of equipment out of commission.

Burgin told Parliament a new location on the second floor has been identified for the replacement machine.

A CT Scan, also known as a CAT scan is a specialised X-ray test which is done on any section of the head or body and gives clear pictures of bones and soft tissues, such as muscles, organs, large blood vessels, the brain and nerves.
