‘Know Yo’ History’ quiz


The Ministry of Education emphasized the importance of teaching local history with the production of a Local History Quiz Competition titled “Know Yo’ History” last Thursday, 3 April, at the Memorial Hall in Kingstown.{{more}}

The quiz highlighted a number of important aspects of local history, including school history, the advancement of science and technology and local expressions. The competition catered for students of the lower secondary school and was aimed at fostering greater appreciation for local history.

The Local History Quiz was introduced in 2004 as an initiative of the Heritage Club of St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College. The first competition was won by the Bethel High School.

This year, 2013 Champion – Girls’ High School – was narrowly edged out by the St Vincent Grammar School.

Full results of the 2014 Local History Quiz Competition:

1st – St Vincent Grammar School (edged out the Girls’ High School in a tie-breaking round)

2nd – St Vincent Girls’ High School

3rd – St Joseph’s Convent Kingstown
