SVG ideal sailing destination – Beache

Yachtsmen from across the globe may now be considering this country to be an ideal sailing destination. Images of St Vincent and the Grenadines were not only featured on the cover of the 2014 issue of the Seven Seas calendar, but on five months of the year as well.{{more}} This was revealed by chief executive officer of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority (SVGTA) Glen Beache, while speaking to the media last Friday.

Beache noted that this is the first time that the largest selling calendar in the United States of America has featured one destination several times in one issue of their calendar. “It’s a sailing calendar so when you look in it, you’ll see a lot of different pictures of different places around the world for sailing. What Seven Seas usually does is that they usually give each month to a country, a destination,” he explained. “We brought in Seven Seas early last year to take some shots in St Vincent and the Grenadines and the photographer, who is from Paris, was so impressed that we actually got the cover and we have five months, which is the first time Seven Seas has done that, given a destination five months at one time.”

Beache added that the photographer loved St Vincent so much that he even decided to buy property on one of the Grenadine islands. Vincentians also have something to look forward to this summer, as the CEO also revealed that the photographer recently visited the country and will be doing a photography book that will feature St Vincent. “We’re very happy and proud of this. He took some lovely shots,” Beache said. He stated that the book should be published sometime in August. (BK)
