Justice Bruce-Lyle falls ill

Resident High Court judge Justice Frederick Bruce-Lyle is reported to be doing well after falling ill at the recently held 32nd Passing Out Parade of recruits at the Old Montrose Police Training School on March 27.{{more}}

Shortly after 5 p.m., Bruce-Lyle seemed to be sleeping, but after an alarm was raised, he appeared not to be conscious.

Persons at the parade rushed to Bruce-Lyle’s side quickly, unbuttoned his shirt and took off his shoes and Station Sergeant Trevor “Buju” Bailey took up the judge and carried him to the police transport, which had reversed onto the parade square.

Since Thursday, Bruce-Lyle received a flurry of posts on his Facebook wall wishing him a speedy recovery and offering up prayers for him.

The judge, who seemed to be in a jovial mood, replied to one of the posts from March 29, by stating: “…I was discharged from the hospital this morning!! All is well!!”

He replied to another post by saying: “…I was discharged this morning and resting comfortably at home!!”

It is still not clear when he will return to work.

Justice Bruce-Lyle was presiding over the current criminal assizes.
