The incident took place on Tuesday, October 22 at the construction site of the international airport at Argyle.

According to a report received from the IADC, at about 8 a.m., a tractor tyre exploded while it was being inflated, causing facial injuries to the 50-year-old mechanic.

“The safety of our employees is of paramount importance to us while they are on the job.

“In its five years of operation, this is the first time that something like this has occurred. We regret very much that this accident occurred and are doing all we can to ensure that Mr Keir is comfortable and that he gets the best medical care possible,” a release from the IADC said.

Another worker who witnessed the incident said Keir was tossed several feet into the air after the tyre exploded in his face.

SEARCHLIGHT visited the Biabou resident at the Male Surgical Ward on Wednesday. He was, however, unable to speak and his face was swollen.

He, however, gave a thumbs up sign, despite the tears rolling down his cheeks. (AA)
