SVG to host Caribbean Baptist Conference


For the first time ever, the St Vincent and the Grenadines Baptist Convention (SVGBC) will host the Caribbean Baptist Fellowship Executive Meeting and Baptist Gathering, to be held from October 22 to 24, 2013.{{more}} The SVGBC comprises Kingstown, Glen, Campden Park, Union Island, Deliverance, Overland and Sandy Bay Baptist Churches and has provided over 30 years of ministry to the Vincentian population.

The conference will be preceded by a the annual joint convention service of the SVGBC on Sunday, October 20, at the Russell’s Complex beginning at 10 a.m. under the theme: “In step with the Spirit: liberation.”

Delegates from across the Caribbean region will meet for business, worship and fellowship, culminating with a grand gathering of Caribbean Baptists on the evening of Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the Conference Hall located upstairs the Russell’s Complex, Stoney Ground. The keynote speaker at the Thursday evening gathering will be Reverend Neville Callam, a Caribbean national, from the island of Jamaica, the general secretary and chief executive officer of the Baptist World Alliance (BWA).

The BWA comprises 210 Baptist groups worldwide, representing over 47 million Baptists in more than 200 countries. President of the Baptist World Alliance Owen Crooks will also be part of the delegation.

The SVGBC congratulates the Government and People of St Vincent and the Grenadines on the occasion of the 34th Anniversary of Independence.
