The eight finalists for the 15th edition of the Scotia Bank sponsored Rotaract spelling-bee have been announced.{{more}}

Heading to the October 19 finals this year are: Anjali John of the Stephanie Browne Primary School, Derlona Daniel of the Langley Park Government, Rhianna James of the Lodge Village Government, Zaida Davis of the Marriaqua Government, Aldeiah Jacobs of the Union Methodist, Teyanna Williams of the Brighton Methodist, Jadyn Delpesche of the Rose Hall Government and Cosem Millington of the Layou Government.

The students earned their places in the finals, after eight zones of preliminary competition that took place last week, at the Fisheries conference room in Kingstown.

Saturday’s finals will see the participants being rewarded for their spelling skills, with the top performer receiving a trophy, a laptop computer and six months free Internet service, a return trip to any Grenadine island, books, and gift packs, among other prizes.

Sponsors for the competition include Scotia Bank, Courts St Vincent Limited, Digicel, Premier Distributors and the Central Water and Sewerage Authority.

Other sponsors are C.K. Greaves, Agricultural Input Warehouse, Premier Distributors, E.Moussa and Sons, and St Vincent Brewery.

Last year’s winner was Jenique John of the St Mary’s R.C School.(JJ)
