The two-week programme, which ran from 5 to 16 August, 2013, engaged close to 100 children between the ages of five and 13 years from the Upper Cane Hall and Arnos Vale communities.

The parliamentary representative indicated that the children were exposed to daily sessions of: devotion, virtues, lteracy and numeracy, while sessions were also incorporated for art, craft, music and dance. A session each was devoted to games and a field trip to the Botanic Gardens and Fort Charlotte.

The West St George Area Council “E,” under the leadership Mckie, prior to him being elected, initiated this programme in 2002. Mckie, who has been the parliamentary representative for the West St George constituency since December 2010, has ensured that the programme continues.

The private and business sectors have contributed to the longevity of the programme, a release from the organizers said.
