The scholarships received by those 17 Vincentians include one Ph.D. program, four Master’s programs, nine Bachelor’s programs and three Postgraduate Medical programs. The postgraduate medical scholarship program, newly initiated by President Ma Ying-jeou of the Republic of China (Taiwan), is to provide medical education to the youth of its diplomatic allies. The postgraduate medical program will be offered at the Medical School of I-Shou University.

To date, over 80 Vincentians have received either Taiwan Scholarships or TaiwanICDF Scholarships and many of them have graduated and returned to St Vincent and the Grenadines to serve their country with the knowledge they have acquired in Taiwan. There are still around 30 recipients currently studying at various universities in Taiwan. Some of those who have returned have worked for the Government or even taken charge of some important Taiwan-SVG co-operative projects, such as the Tissue Culture Laboratory, agro-processing or agro-business, etc. They have been highly recognized for their outstanding performance and become both the backbone of their country’s development and an important bridge for the enhancement of the cooperation and relations between the two countries.
