DaSilva heads newly elected council of SVGCIC

A new Council has been elected to lead the St Vincent and the Grenadines Chamber of Industry and Commerce for the next two years.

At the Chamber’s Annual General Meeting on June 20,{{more}} Christine DaSilva of Quik-Print was elected as president. She takes over from outgoing president Andrew Woodroffe.

The meeting was held at the Chamber’s Old Conference Room, Coreas Building, Kingstown.

Other newly elected senior members of the Council are vice president Michael John of Computec and vice president Finance and Administration, Simone Murray, a Management and Financial consultant.

The meeting received the reports for the year 2012 from outgoing president Andrew Woodroffe and executive director Michael Nanton. It further considered the Audited Financial Report for the year 2012 and considered the work of the Chamber for the year under review.

In accepting her new position in the 87-year-old organization, Da Silva thanked outgoing president, Andrew Woodroffe and his team for the yeoman service that they had rendered to the Chamber over the period of the last two years, and made reference to their steadfast contribution to delivering sustainable positive value that had rendered the survival of the Chamber in very trying economic times and circumstances.

Da Silva went on to assure the general body of her unstinted dedication to the furtherance of the work of the Chamber and her commitment to ensuring its growth and development during her tenure. She challenged the newly elected Council to deliver tangible results in terms of major projects, while ensuring a growth in membership and critical revenue streams.

Other members elected to the Council include: Jethro Greene, ECTAD; Basil Charles, Basil’s Bar; Michael Gibson, Gibson Construction Ltd; Kimya Glasgow, Kimya Glasgow Designs Inc; Phillippa Greaves, St.Vincent Distillers Ltd; Dr Helen Bailey, St Vincent Brewery Ltd; Dennis Gaymes, Gaymes Book Centre; Errol Armstrong, CIBC/FCIB.
