According to Theophilus Shallow, president of the Board of Directors, the burglar(s) made off with an undisclosed sum of money from the vault, as well as office supplies, including transformers.

Shallow told SEARCHLIGHT that the intruders forced their way into the building through a side door on the left side of the building, making their way into the general office where some money was also taken.

He added that they entered the manager’s office, the area where the vault was located.

In all, three doors were damaged and the office ransacked, Shallow said.

He noted that this was the fourth occasion on which the business place had been burglarized.

Within recent times, a number of businesses and residents in Marriaqua have reported several burglaries. In April, burglars made off with approximately $40,000 from the Western Union Office in Mesopotamia. (DD)
